In need of a winter get-away? Here’s my suggestion. Isla Mujeres. This four-and-a-half mile long island is an 18-minute ferry ride from Cancun.
I met up with my five siblings and their spouses at the Hotel Ixchel on the north end of the Island. How lucky am I to be part of a family that wants to vacation together? I loved this special time with my family.
We were all together except my John since he couldn’t take off work. By day we sipped island drinks, ate amazing food, stared at crystal clear turquoise waters, snorkeled among beautiful coral reefs, took bike tours through the Colonia’s, and walked along the Malecon.
At night we dined at exceptional restaurants whose quality easily rivals the best in U.S. big cities. The locals of Isla Mujeres love art and use their doorways to express their creativity.
I decided to document a few of them. Take a look: Pretty awesome, right?

We’ll be heading back to Isla Mujeres in February of 2019. Maybe I’ll see you there!
